This summer, Keller Swan Injury Attorneys proudly launched and completed its inaugural summer internship program, welcoming four exceptional law students to its Jupiter office. The program provided immersive, hands-on experience in personal injury litigation, giving interns the opportunity to work directly on active cases, observe courtroom proceedings, and learn from the firm’s skilled trial attorneys.

The interns—Brodie Bartelt from Santa Clara University School of Law, Nicholas Polo from St. Thomas University College of Law, Jason Roberson from the University of Mississippi School of Law, and Selin Vainstein from New England Law | Boston—brought enthusiasm and dedication to their roles. Over the course of the summer, they gained valuable exposure to real-world legal practice, from trial preparation and litigation strategy to courtroom observation and client advocacy.

Intern Experiences and Insights

Jason Roberson, a 3L law student, chose Keller Swan for its strong focus on litigation experience. “I knew before I got here that I wanted to be in the courtroom—and I was in the courtroom plenty of times during my internship,” Jason said. His time at Keller Swan allowed him to fully immerse himself in trial prep and litigation strategy, working closely with attorneys on real cases.

Brodie Bartelt, a rising 2L, echoed the value of the firm’s supportive learning environment. “The attorneys here have a host of experience and knowledge—being able to learn from them was a very beneficial opportunity for me,” Brodie said. He witnessed opening statements in a medical malpractice trial and gained direct experience collaborating with attorneys and staff.

Similarly, Selin Vainstein experienced litigation firsthand. With a strong interest in personal injury law, Selin practiced opening and closing statements and observed medical malpractice trials in court. “We weren’t just treated as interns. We were truly integrated into the firm and made to feel like part of the family,” she shared.

Nicholas Polo developed practical legal writing skills and engaged with local judges while appreciating the firm’s collaborative culture. “What surprised me the most about working here was the family mentality—everyone was willing to help each other as much as possible,” Nicholas remarked.

Program Overview and Commitment

Co-founder and CEO Chris Keller emphasized the importance of practical experience in shaping future legal professionals. “We recognized the tremendous value of meaningful, practical experience for law students. Our internship program was designed not only to teach legal skills but also to inspire and prepare the next generation of lawyers to succeed in and out of the courtroom,” Keller said.

The paid, six-week program included shadowing attorneys in client meetings, depositions, and court hearings, participating in trial advocacy workshops, contributing to meaningful case work, and networking with top legal professionals. Located in Jupiter, Florida, Keller Swan’s internship offered law students passionate about personal injury law the opportunity to develop courtroom presence and sharpen their legal skills.
